Who we are…
The ALLIANCE OF MEDICAL TATTOOING (AMT) is an independent 501(c)(6) non-profit membership organization created to help support businesses and artists in the medical tattooing field through the formation of policies, standards, ethics, and certification that set it apart from other tattooing industries.
AMT provides board certification to individuals who have met a defined standard of education, training and knowledge in the field of medical tattooing.
Board certification by the AMT is a voluntary process that demonstrates a tattoo artist’s commitment to professionalism, lifelong learning, and quality client care.
Our Vision
“To create a world that distinguishes the skill set of medical tattoo artists to best support and protect their clients.”
Setting Standards
AMT leads in establishing standards for restorative tattooing, a key resource for the tattoo community and clients. Our commitment is to enhance practices during medical tattooing, advocating for its recognition as a distinct specialty. We emphasize unique skills, aiming to elevate its importance in medical tattooing. AMT is dedicated to ensuring the highest standards and actively contributing to the field's evolution.
Professional Resources
As medical tattooing experts, we provide AMT Board Certified artist directory for practitioners and clients. Our platform connects practitioners with artists, offering resources, practice standards, and guidelines. We collaborate with larger facilities to create a referral system to AMT-approved artists. Tattoo artists can apply for AMT Certified Artist membership, gaining access to education, webinars, events, newsletters, inclusion in the artist directory, and more.
Data & Research
AMT collaborates with experienced clinical psychologists specializing in health psychology and the treatment of breast cancer patients. Our goal is to enhance bio-psychosocial outcomes during the survivorship journey. We actively collect data through surveys and conduct research based on evidence to emphasize the significance of high-quality medical tattoos in impacting individuals. AMT is dedicated to safeguarding survivors by ensuring access to safe and top-notch medical tattoos, with a primary focus on incorporating the perspectives of survivors in this crucial process.
